Home Again

Jessica and Levi came home from the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Jacob was very excited to see Levi and MOM. Two days with only a couple hours of Mom time was not enough. Jess spent some quality time with Jacob that made him very happy. The last couple of days have been good. Levi has be doing well. I will let Jess share about the late night activities. All in all things seem to be going well.

This picture is of Levi in his little plastic container and cart that he gets to drive around at the hospital. I really wanted to take this thing home. They are pretty sweet.

Levis first day home and his big brother was very excited. Here he is holding Levi. This moment lasted for about two minutes then Jacob went back to bashing all the balloons that came with his new little brother.

I took this picture of Levi lounging on the couch yesterday evening. I couldn't resist getting an close up. He was completely content on the couch enjoying his last meal from Mom.

Who is Who

Here are two pictures one of Jacob on his Birthday and one of Levi on his Birthday. Everyone was trying to decide if Levi looks like Jacob. Well now we can look at two pictures side by side at the same time to see if the brothers do look alike. So what do you think? Do they look alike? What do you think?

Levi 12/27/05

So who do you they look like?

Levi's First Hour

Levi has survived his first full day with his parents and older brother. His day consisted of sleeping, sorta eating and looking around. All of the real excitement was between 8am and 9am. I put together a short video of Levi's first hour. The video is about a minute long and was saved for the web it shouldn't take you along time to download unless you have dial up. If that is the case it may take you 10-15 minutes. Enjoy

To watch the video CLICK HERE

Here are a couple other pictures to hold you over until later this week.

Jacob checking out his little brother.

Dad and his new little boy...with lots of hair.

Levi Mark James Broberg

Levi Mark James Broberg was born today at 7:50am. He is 7lbs 13oz 19" long. Here are a few pictures and a movie for your enjoyment.

Hopefully by this evening we will have a 1 min video of Levi's first hour. Check back tonight.

Eating Snow and Playdough

Well, I thought I'd post a few pictures to show you what jacob and I have been up to lately. We have spent a lot of time playing with playdough. Although I must admit that I have been having dreams (some would call them nightmares) of yelling at jacob to stop EATING the playdough. Now, I realize a small amount of it will probably not hurt him, but lately he has been literally taking handfuls of playdough and sticking it in his mouth. As a rough estimate, I'd say he's consumed a good half to 3/4 container of playdough over the last week or two. So, now I have to play "playdough cop" and watch guard that he doesn't try to sneak in another bite or two. He also decided the other night that he wanted to eat snow. So, we got a bowl and he went outside and collected some white (emphasis being on white) snow and ate most of the bowl of ice cream along with a glass of hot chocolate and many many mini marshmallows. I realized part way through that he was probably wanting me to make "snow" ice cream for him like grandma broberg did when she was up last visiting. I have never made snow ice cream before, so I had to surrender to husband's unlimited knowledge and get the recipe. (which of course is simply vanilla and sugar added to the snow.) So, until the baby comes (soon hopefully) the two of us will continue playing and eating...snow and playdough.

thanksgiving weekend

I thought I'd post some thanksgiving weekend pictures. Jacob helped mom and grandma in the kitchen preparing the thanksgiving meal and got some beater licking time in. He thought he'd share the whipping cream with grandma. The day after thanksgiving we hired a babysitter (thanks molly!) and went shopping ALL day. It was a lot of fun though. We bought jammies that were gonna be for christmas, but grandma wanted to see him in them before she left, so we decided to get some good pajama snuggle time in. On saturday we went and got our christmas tree. Grandma and grandpa came with and it was a lot of fun. We got some good pictures of jacob running around in the field. We had a great weekend. I am so thankful for all the many blessings in my life, especially those of my family. Happy Thanksgiving!

hanging out

The other day jacob and I spent the day just hanging out. I was in my pajamas most of the day and he spent the day with a shirt and no pants, the belt to my robe and a box of graham crackers close by. At one point during the day I realized how silly he looked and decided to take a picture. We read books, played trains, did lots of arts and crafts and just generally hung out. Jacob helped me do laundry and followed me from room to room as I picked up. It wasn't the kind of day most people would look at and think was very productive, but it taught me a lot about just relaxing and enjoying my kid and not being so worried about how my house (or myself) looked. Thank you God for the simpleness of life at times. May we as moms always take the time out of our busy schedules to stop and look at our children, give them a hug or kiss and see if maybe there's something they're trying to tell us or teach us about the beauty of the simple things.

Auntie Meredith

Here's a picture of jacob and auntie meredith taking a nap together. Meredith was up last weekend to visit. Jacob got some good quality time in with her. He also loves his birthday gift she got for him, an aqua doodle mat. I think it's a great toy, and has definitely earned it's title for toy of the year award. So, thanks mere for a great toy that is mess-free! We love you and miss you already around here. Hugs and kisses-aaron, jess and jakers

Choo! Choo!

Jacob has recently become obsessed with trains. (choo-choos) I got a great deal on one at a garage sale this summer and kept it to give to him for his birthday. He has had a lot of fun playing with it. Then someone gave him a Thomas the tank engine book for a birthday present and we are now approaching our 277th time reading it! My husband despises the book because it's very wordy and some of the words are very hard for a little kid (or a big kid-aaron)to understand. Last night he was reading it to Jacob and he just started going off about how poorly written the book was and how he might as well write a children's book because he could certainly do better. Which, I must admit I agree. Anyways, he said he was going to blog about the book specifically because he is so annoyed by it and cannot believe someone actually published it the way it was written. It was a very funny little "soap box" moment, but I guess you would've had to been there to get all of the amusement out of it that I did. Anyways, I thought I'd post a picture of jacob with his screwdriver trying to fix the train. He is a determined young boy to say the least!

Bug Bash

Well, this past saturday we celebrated jacob's 2nd birthday by having a "bug bash." It was a lot of fun to do. We had bug themed games like pin the spot (a.k.a. oreo)on the lady bug and the ladybug beanbag toss. We colored pictures of bugs and ate bug snacks like spider crackers and caterpillars (made out of grapes and cheese). We also had "bug juice" to drink. For our cake we had "dirt" served in a wheel barrow with a garden spade. We also had lots of creepy worms crawling around in the dirt. When the kids arrived they could go to the "local tattoo artist" (aaron) and get a bug tattoo. Some kids weren't real sure about that but jacob that it was a great idea. He had one on each hand and one on each cheek. The kid loves bugs! Here's some pictures from our party.

Isaac's Birthday

Well, jacob and I just got back from a quick visit down to the cousins house for Isaac's birthday party. Aaron was pretty busy this week, (as he has been lately) so it gave jacob and I chance to get away for a little bit and freed up some time for Aaron to get a lot of work done. We had fun. As you can see-it was a Star Wars themed birthday party. The kids had fun....the parents were tired by the end of the night. Rachel invited 8 boys over and then of course there was my 1 kid, rachel's 4, and jen's 4. So, we had a house full. Actually, she had it in the garage, which was a good idea. About an hour before the party there was a pretty bad storm brewing and a tornado watch. But, by the time the party started it had ended. It kinda rained off and on, but that didn't stop the kids from running around and playing outside.

Darth Jacob & Darth Ben

My son and his cousin have been taken over by the dark side. If they weren't so adorable, I'd be worried about it. May the force be with you!

Disc Golf

Saturday morning we decided to head out and play a little disc golf. They don't have any baskets up yet, but it was still fun. They had big wooden sticks you have to hit which is actually a lot harder, I think. Jacob had fun running around with us and helping us search for our missing discs.

Here's the little man walking back to the car. He insisted on carrying all of the discs himself.

He almost made it the whole way. But, at the end he got kinda tired and dad had to carry him the last little bit. What a great way to spend time together as a family and get a little fresh air and exercise!

my sick little boy

Tonight I am exhausted and yet somehow very fulfilled as a mother. Jakers didn't wake up this morning until like 9:30 which is very late for him! I went into his room and he was crying and his roomed smelled horrible. He must've thrown up in the middle of the night because his whole bed was full of it. I picked him up and his body was on fire. So, the day started out washing sheets and cleaning his room, in between caring for him. I gave him some motrin and he seemed to be doing a little better by late morning. Then I thought I should try to give him something to eat and he started eating but then threw up again. This went on throughout the day. Needless to say I called aaron twice because I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I am not used to jacob being sick. He is always so happy and full of energy and today he didn't say two words and just laid on me all day long. It made me appreciate him and all of the joy he brings to my life. Most days I wish he would just relax a little and be mellow. But, today it made me think about how that is what I love about him. So, here it is the end of the day and I am exhausted from caring for my little boy all day. I smell like puke, i'm in pajamas that i've been in all day, my hair is amazing and I have no makeup on and yet somehow I feel more fulfilled as a mother than I do most days. I guess that is what being a mom is really all about. Doing whatever he neeeds, above all my needs, because he is the most important person (other than my husband) in my life. To all you moms out there caring for your children, whether sick or well-I commend you! May God give us the love, patience and wisdom we need to bring these children up in a way that would honor Him.

You can't get me!

Okay, so the other day jacob was outside running around while aaron was mowing the lawn and they were so cute. Dad was letting jacob help push the mower and so I grabbed the camera and ran outside. After that I thought it would be nice to get a couple pictures of my son. He, however, had no intention of allowing me to do that and I had to play a tough game just to get a few good ones. What a stinker. First, he starts walking away from me, then he hides behind a tree and when all else fails, he starts running away from me. Let me tell you, he gave me a run for my money. But I did get a good one. ha!ha!jacob

Mackinaw Island Vacation

Here's some pictures we took along the shore of Lake Superior on our drive. It was cold and windy which is what it's always like when I'm near Lake Superior. But, it was beautiful! The water was so clear and pretty and the sand beach was beautiful. Then I had aaron take a picture of me with my hands in the sand because it was so soft and felt so good. I know. I know. It's just sand. But, it WAS really wonderful sand.

The Mackinac Bridge.

We pulled over before we crossed the bridge and took a few pictures.

These are a couple of pictures of the resort we stayed at.I put these up for you mom and dad, thought you might like to see the place. The resort was very nice, you guys should check it out. Thanks for letting use some of your time.

We got a few pictures with both of us in it. Mostly we just took pictures of the scenery or else me with the scenery. The picture of us on the ferry was taken by a nice elderly lady who complained a good way of the boat ride back about how everything was much too expensive. She was funny at first and then just annoying so I put my head on aaron's shoulder and pretended to sleep.

Okay, so this is the general size of the houses on the island-amazing! There were so many gorgeous buildings, but these were some of my favorite.

This is where we ate lunch when we were on the island. It was a gorgeous bed and breakfast with a terrace overlooking the lake. The food was delicious and the view was amazing. Best thing about it was that it wasn't even expensive. We hit the jackpot with this place!

"The Grand Hotel" was indeed quite grand. But, so were their prices to even step foot inside. It was $10 a person just to walk past a certain point. I found the people there to be a little richy richy and snobby for my liking. And, after a guy told us we weren't allowed to walk any further without paying the twenty dollar price tag of looking at it, I decided I didn't want to pay their rediculous price. (Now that I'm home, I of course wish I would've just paid the dumb price.) But, Aaron and I did sneak down on the lower side by the pool and the lush backyard garden and got a few pictures. So, I felt like I had sufficiently "gave it to them" for being so obnoxiously snooty. Below is a picture of the dress code that I thought was a joke. I thought it was from the olden days. But, my husband happily pointed out the fact that that was the point of the island and the hotel-to make it like it was back then and that those dress code rules were in fact, still in place today. That too, I thought was little bit much!
